Summer Music Post 2

Band: Beirut
Album: Gulag Orkestar

An 8 person band created by a 21 year old guy named Zach Condon from New Mexico. He plays low intensity balkan gypsy meets solo acoustic guitarist and the songs are astounding. My favorite so far is "Gulag Orkestar," track #1.

Does ATY Ever Freak Out?

Yes. Right the fuck now. Because I have a week and a half left in my project and the prof just announced that one of our critiquers will be -

John.

Who is John? A personal friend of our prof who also used to be the lead designer at Morphosis.

And his big building was Diamond Ranch High School. One of my three favorite Morphosis buildings.

Clarification:

This is not a "death by t-square" call to action, that was a joke. Rather, the quote places emphasis on those who serve knowledge more closely than architects - i.e. Students and Higher Educators. This distinction is blurred by Heidegger, possibly intentionally to warn against letting the service of knowledge lose its lustre or become just a job. That's how I took this quote.

M. Heidegger, 1933

Because the statesman and the teacher, the doctor and the judge, the minister and the architect lead the existence of people and state (staat), because they guard and hone it in its fundamental relations to the world-shaping powers of human being, these professions and the education for them are entrusted to service of knowledge.

My interpretation: DEATH BY T-SQUARE

ATY's Status:

Currently seeking death by T-Square.

Burnt out and burnt from hot glue guns.

Sick of travel.

Right arm is sore from Wii Baseball.

Pride is also sore from Wii Baseball.

Retired from Poetry.

Listening to a ton of good new music that came out on Tuesday.

Listening to some crappy music that came out on Tuesday.

Excited beyond belief with the new Architecture in Helsinki single "Heart it Races" available now on iTunes for $.99.

Summer Music Post 1

The new Interpol album is their greatest yet.

Opening lyrics:

Show me the dirt pile
and I will pray that the soul can take
three stowaways.
Vanish with no guile
and I will not pay
but the soul can wait
the soul can wait.
